My Weight Loss Journey

12/27/13 - 260 lbs

Just over 6 months ago I made the decision to take back my life and take charge of my health. Somehow I found myself spiraling out of control. At 260 pounds there was no sign of slowing down and no motivation to lose weight or get in shape.  My fiance would try to get me to be more active, but the most I would do is go for a bike ride, which is a good start, but not enough to change my body. I was stuck in a hole and needed someone to show me the way out.

Turkey Leftovers Soup

After Thanksgiving dinner there usually sits the carcass of a delicious turkey on the counter with some meat left on its bones.  What to do with this turkey?  Why not make some soup with it!  That is what someone suggested to me and that is what I did.  Why didn't I think of it before?!  There's no reason for all that juicy meat to go to waste.  Not to mention it's low budget and healthy!  

Chromecast?? No, even better!

A few weeks ago I was sitting in my living room watching TV on my recently acquired Samsung Smart TV.  I pick up my phone to look up something on YouTube and I notice the "Chromecast" icon in the top right corner.  I click it and a selection pop up appears with "[TV] Samsung".  SWEEEET!!!!  I select it and my TV launches the YouTube App.  I select a video on my phone and it begins playing on the TV.  And to think that I almost bought a Chromecast dongle when they came out...  I suppose a Chromecast would be nice if you don't have a Smart TV.

Thanksgiving - Fried Turkey? I say yes!

I've been waiting weeks for thanksgiving to get here...  Mainly because I get to try out my Butterball Electric Turkey Fryer!!  I've cooked tons of other things in it, including a whole chicken, but now is the true test of a turkey.  It's amazing how many people I find that have never had fried turkey before (this includes my girlfriend and aunt that were here today).  They really don't know what they're missing out on! It basically seals the juices in and gives it a nice crispy outside and one of the best parts is that it takes less than an hour to cook.  

Synology DS213+ Diskstation

I've currently had my DS213+ Diskstation for about 10 months now and let me tell you, it's one of the greatest purchases I've EVER made!  Before this I didn't really know too much about them.  None of my "techy" friends had them. I had tons of music and movie media stored on my PC, but never thought of getting a NAS (Network Attached Stoage).  One day at work my coworker was in the process of ordering one and started telling me about Synology (we always enjoy talking about electronic gadgets and toys, he's pretty into it for an older guy). I was instantly hooked and determined to get one for myself.  After convincing myself it was a life or death situation to have one of these I pulled the trigger and ordered it.

UCF Drops to 19th after a win against the Rutgers

UCF is on the verge of it's first ever BCS Bowl bid and what a better time to achieve this than the last year the BCS will be effective. UCF is currently ranked 19th in the BCS standings with a 9-1 record after taking down the Rutgers.  They've had too many close games against teams with poor records (Temple, Memphis).
